DELECTRO

Aesthetics and Decarbonisation

DELECTRO is a research-based design studio and new energy product and service development startup.

It is part of the Charge cohort of EnergyLab, located at the Haymarket Campus of University of Technology Sydney.

PRODUCT AND SERVICES PORTFOLIO

Building aesthetic experiences for decarbonisation

A set of products and services, each designed to make energy transition feel tangible in everyday life.

DeCarbon Rhythm

Live carbon intensity visualisation

Interactive visualisations and logs of live carbon intensity of energy from the electricity grid. Designed and ready for integrating into consumer facing energy applications and public art installations.

DELOCA Marketplace

Hyper-local marketplace shaped by low-carbon windows

DELOCA is a low carbon energy use based neighbourhood marketplace. It is currently under development and testing. It is built on Delectro’s proprietary low carbon agent algorithm. The marketplace provides offers, discounts and incentives from local businesses.

OLE The Outdoor Electric Micro Kitchen

Modular and portable micro kitchens for outdoors and balconies

OLE is being developed as an open source furniture design based micro-kitchen developed to run on low carbon electricity. It takes its inspiration from the beautiful Australian outdoors and living culture. It doubles up as a home battery for apartment units, granny flats and tiny homes while being portable for barbecues and cook-outs.

The Solar Tea House

Energy + relaxation infrastructure for sub-urban homes

This concept development project is for an outdoor pavilion that integrates a home battery system with tea culture. Designed for the context of sub-urban homes, it can be located by the pool side, in gardens or in the backyard.

Customer Development

Building with households, vendors, and energy partners

Delectro undertakes a design-led process of product development with a foundation in user and customer centric approaches. Our product development process is geared towards the growth and development of our customers. With this focus we are currently collaborating with households, local businesses and battery manufacturers.

1) Discovery

Design hypothesis, concept design and prototyping with rapid testing to clarify real-world constraints and value.

2) Pilot

Interviews, walkthroughs with small cohort trials (neighbourhood-scale) to test behaviour, trust, and usability.

3) Scale path

Packaging learnings into product development, partnerships, and deployment models.
